How Hot Sleepers Can Sleep Deeper

Tips for hot sleepers to cool down faster and get a better night’s sleep

June is upon us. This means, hot summer nights that even the strongest air conditioning units cannot always fight off. You may have already started to experience night sweats yourself. You are not alone.

Research shows that up to 41% of people experience night sweats and are considered “hot sleepers.” Many things can cause one to be a hot sleeper. There are obvious reasons such as thick bedding and sleeping with a partner or pet. There is also a wide variety of other reasons such as metabolism, medications and other internal factors that can cause night sweats.

First, consider your routine. Exercising too close to bedtime can cause your body temperature to rise. Taking a hot bath or shower, on the other hand, can create the opposite effect. Once you get out, your body will start cooling itself down giving yourself a good chance at restful sleep.

When trying to create the most comfortable environment for hot sleepers, first we can look at one’s bedroom. Do you keep the curtains open all day, letting the sun beat in? Perhaps you could use a fan. Do you sleep in pajamas? If so, I recommend lightweight, breathable fibers such as cotton.

Once you have transformed your bedroom into the cool, dark sanctuary it should be, it is time to reconsider the products you are sleeping with. Certain materials are designed to be better for air circulation while others will retain heat.

For the best night’s sleep for hot sleepers, I recommend these products:

This pillow is sure to keep you cool and calm all night. Technology in the fabric works to absorb excess heat and create a cool-to-the-touch environment, perfect for hot sleepers. AptiveCool™ wicks moisture, prevents odors and bacteria-driven allergens in the fill, for fresh clean comfort.

Accompany your Polar Point Pillow with a matching mattress pad from Pottery Barn. Similar to the pillow, technology in the mattress pad works to create all-over comfort by wicking away moisture and heat, and creating a cooling sensation that will help you to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

True Temp Blanket from Sleep Number

I will always recommend this blanket in all seasons for its versatility, however it is especially a necessity for summertime! Cuddle up for summer movie nights, use it as a fashion statement with your bedding and add it to the mix with your other sleep products in your environment for the best night's sleep. The 37.5® technology embedded in the fibers continuously adapts to help keep your temperature just right throughout the night.

Now, go out there and revamp your sleep environment before the hot summer nights get the best of you! Start sleeping deeper tonight so you can accomplish your dreams tomorrow. Visit https://www.inventivesleep.com/innovations-page for more information.
